Wayne Routledge | We want to put frustrations behind us

Wayne Routledge wants Swansea City to put an end to recent frustrations when they face Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday.

Steve Cooper’s side sit just one point off the top of the Championship table, but have been disappointed by what they see as missed opportunities in recent games.

In particular, the Swans failed to build on early leads against Reading and Stoke at the Liberty, taking a point from those two fixtures.

A number of players have spoken of the need to bounce back quickly and, while Routledge acknowledges it’s an easy sentiment to express, the experienced winger expects a response with every point gathered set to be so important.

“I realise it can sound like players are always saying the same things, but it is important to show resilience and respond,” he said.

“It is frustrating, not only for the supporters, but for the boys as well.

“The Stoke game was the third time we have been in a good position and we have let points slip away.

“Towards the end of a season things like that can become crucial.

“It’s something we need to address as a team and get better at.”
