‘We have to be ready’

18th March

George Byers insists Swansea City Under-23s must not take relegation-threatened Manchester United for granted when the sides face off at the Liberty Stadium this afternoon (1pm).

The young Swans face the Premier League 2 strugglers in front of the Jack Army as they go in search of a 10th league win of the season, while the Red Devils are five points from safety.

Despite the gulf between the teams in the table, midfielder Byers – who has eight goals this season – insists it won’t be an easy encounter.

“It doesn’t matter where they are in the league,” Byers said. “We have to ready for them.

“We know it is going to be another tough test. They are fighting to stay in the league whilst we push to go higher.

“We know we are a good team who can beat anyone when playing at our best level. We have shown that with wins against Liverpool and Arsenal, who are both chasing the title.

“So we have to go into today’s game with confidence, continue to prove ourselves and deliver another performance in front of the home fans.”

Fans can watch the young Swans at the Liberty Stadium for FREE, with kick-off at 1pm.

Supporters attending can claim their free ticket prior to entry from the ticket office or programme booth and are asked to arrive early to avoid queues or delays.
