'We must keep building'

20th November

Simon Paulet is hopeful Swansea City Under-23s’ impressive Checkatrade Trophy exploits will inspire an upturn in fortune across all competitions.

The young Swans are through to the second round of the Checkatrade Trophy after winning Southern Group G following last week's victory over Charlton Athletic at The Valley.

Now Paulet has fingers crossed that the development side can transfer that form into Premier League 2, where they sit in 11th place after 10 games.

The Swans claimed their first league win of the season as they thumped Tottenham 4-1 last time out in PL2, and the next challenge comes when they welcome Brighton & Hove Albion to Landore next Monday.

“We need to be confident after recently beating Charlton and Tottenham away from home,” he said.

“We want to play well in every competition. We’ve done really well in the Checkatrade Trophy, so we now want to do the same in the league.

“We need to keep building on our confidence by getting the three points against Brighton so that we can start to climb the table.”

The under-23s’ game with Brighton kicks off at 7pm at Landore, where entry is FREE.
