'We will bounce back'

Carlos Carvalhal is backing his Swansea City side to bounce back from defeat at Brighton, declaring: “We will be better – I am absolutely sure.”

The Swans suffered only their second loss in their 13 matches since Carvalhal took the reins on a dispiriting afternoon at the Amex Stadium yesterday.

But though the 4-1 reverse brought a halt to the Swans’ rousing 10-game unbeaten run, Carvalhal is adamant the Seagulls setback will not halt his team’s revival.

The Swans return to action when they face Sheffield Wednesday in an FA Cup fifth-round replay on Tuesday night before hosting West Ham in what looks a key Premier League fixture next weekend.

“We had a bad day at Brighton because we made one or two mistakes,” Carvalhal said.

“We gambled in the game and we lost the gamble.

“But we don’t lose our abilities, either individually and collectively, because we have lost one game.

“We will be better in the games we have coming up, especially in the Premier League next weekend, that is absolutely sure.”
