Head coach Yzzy Taylor expressed her delight after as Swansea City Women's resilient display secured all three points against The New Saints.

First-half goals from Chloe Chivers and Stacey John saw the Swans fight back to grab the victory at Park Hall, after TNS defender Zara Gibbs had given the home side the lead.

This was the Swans first win in three games, as they bounced back from defeats to Cardiff City and Wrexham.

Taylor felt the result had been coming based on recent performances, and was particularly pleased with her side’s response to falling behind.

“I’m over the moon. Over the last couple of weeks we have probably deserved more out of the games but I think we were really solid in terms of knowing what we would get out of it if we worked hard," said Taylor.

“I can’t fault any of the players for their attitude or application, not just the game plan but the commitment to the squad.

“I thought we bounced back really well after conceding.

“It is something we have really struggled with over the last couple of weeks but we spoke about how determined we can be to make sure that we are not a squad that crumbles under pressure and we can bounce back when we need to, which is what we demonstrated.

“I was really proud of our defensive resilience, everyone that stepped onto that pitch and those within the wider squad were locked into getting the same outcome and ensuring that we came away with three points and I am really pleased with the performances across the board.

“We can go into the game against Pontypridd next week full of confidence. It will be a different challenge with a different game plan which we will work on in the week, and we will look forward welcoming them back to Llandarcy next week.”
