Žan Vipotnik | I'm very happy to score, but the three points matters most

Zan Vipotnik hopes he can continue his early-season form after adding another brace to his goal tally against Norwich City, but insists the most important number was the three points Swansea City picked up against the Canaries.

The Slovenia international scored both goals in the 2-1 victory at the Swansea.com Stadium to give the Swans a first home league win since August.

Vipotnik opened the scoring when he lashed an effort high into the net from a Marko Stamenic pass and, following a Norwich equaliser, sealed the win with a thunderous low strike from distance with just over 20 minutes to go.

It took the forward to eight goals so far this term, already more than the seven he racked up in his first season with the club.

But he was keen to focus on the collective as he reflected on the win.

“We are really happy, we have had to wait a little while for the victory and I am so proud of the team,” he said.

“For the first goal, Marko drove with the ball, I opened the space and had two touches and got the shot away. I tried to hit it to the near post, and I hit it perfectly.

“The second one was similar, I took the ball in the half space from Jisung, he played the first-time pass to me and I managed to shoot and score again, so it’s a special feeling.

“It’s nice for me to have more goals than last season, but I also knew that last year was not my best.

“So I hoped to be able to pass this number this season and I hope I will be able to continue like this.

“But the main thing is the team, getting the win and I hope we can move forward with confidence into a big game on Wednesday.”
