Zan Vipotnik | New contract is a big motivation
Zan Vipotnik insists his new contract will only increase his motivation to do well for Swansea City, after the Slovenian striker signed terms through to 2030.
The 24-year-old, fresh from celebrating his birthday earlier this week, has been rewarded for an outstanding campaign.
He has contributed 19 goals and two assists in all competitions, while his tally of 17 Championship goals is the best return in the division.
“This is a nice achievement for me, but it is also a big motivation for what is to come next in Swansea,” he said.
“I think the plan we have here is really good, and I hope we can achieve together.
“Personally, this has been my best season. I am happy with it, but we still have six more weeks to go. We are not finished yet.
“We have a big game to come on Saturday, our home form has been so good. The fans have been our 12th player and we feel really good there.”
Vipotnik joined the Swans on a four-year deal in the summer of 2024, having previously been with French club Bordeaux.
He arrived in SA1 during the final stages of pre-season, and admits it took him time to find his feet as he scored seven goals during his maiden campaign with the Swans.
But he feels being able to play a full part in preparations for this campaign gave him important foundations to build upon.
“Pre-season is so important, particularly here because you don’t have a winter break so it is one block of training,” he said.
“So it’s massive, and in my first season I felt I did not get in the rhythm for the first two or three months, and it was something new for me.
“This season I am feeling really good and really strong, part of that is pre-season but part of that is also my mindset.
“I have developed a lot here, I have learned a lot. The season did not start how I wanted, but in my career I have enjoyed being the underdog and proving people wrong by showing what I can do.”
