Zan Vipotnik praises squad mentality after landmark goal
Zan Vipotnik reached the milestone of 20 goals for the season against Sheffield United, but the Slovenian preferred to focus on the contribution the whole squad made to the dramatic fightback at Bramall Lane.
The scores had been level at the interval in south Yorkshire, with Vipotnik scoring from the penalty spot to cancel out Gustavo Hamer's opener.
Melker Widell had an effort cleared off the line for the Swans before Harrison Burrows put the Blades in front seconds later, and when Tom Cannon added a third for the hosts the visitors looked set for defeat.
But the energy from the bench of Adam Idah, Jisung Eom, Liam Cullen, Jay Fulton and Gustavo Nunes helped Swansea get back in the game.
Fulton set up Idah to pull a goal back, before the Irishman teed up Eom for the leveller as it ended 3-3.
Which meant that while Vipotnik was happy to bring up 20 goals in Swansea colours this term, he was keen to praise the effort of the squad as a whole.
"It's nice to help the team with the goal, it's the first penalty I've scored this season. I'm glad we could get the point in front of the travelling fans," said Vipotnik.
"Our fans, they always travel in big numbers and the journey from Swansea is very long, I hope they enjoyed the result.
"We showed the mentality, we were two goals down in the second half, then the substitutes really changed the game positively.
"Adam scoring and getting an assist was amazing, then Jisung getting that all important equaliser at the end. A really positive message for everyone on the pitch and off the pitch that we can always fight back.
"If I'm honest, I would say the Golden Boot is on my mind, but I know how the league is. There's not many games left to go and anything can change, I just want to keep taking it game by game and keep helping the team."
