Premier League Works

Premier League Works uses the power of football to engage young people who are not involved in education, training or employment.

The programme, delivered in partnership with the Professional Footballers Association and the Prince’s Trust provides young people with support to develop their personal and social skills giving them the confidence and the experience they need to make a positive transition back into education, access training or gain meaningful employment.

A relatively new programme, the PL Works project has proved incredibly successful in the short amount of time we’ve run it. Outcomes from the first PL Works course that we ran last season include participants gaining employment, improving their confidence, completing volunteering positions and achieving their Level 2 in Community Sports Leadership, as well as some enrolling on apprenticeships and at college.

An example of the activities and work undertaken by the project’s participants is to plan, organise and implement a community event. Last year’s group hosted the ‘Walking With Legends’ tournament that saw walking football teams from Swansea, Swindon, Cardiff and Newport all compete. With the support of Leroy Fer, the tournament and its participants were featured on Match of the Day.
