Abraham: We are better than this

Tammy Abraham believes Swansea City are better than Premier League results have shown despite a last-minute defeat against Watford at The Liberty Stadium.

The Hornets dominated the opening stages of the first half and took the lead inside 15 minutes as striker Andre Gray pounced on a defensive error inside the area.

Swansea rallied after the break and levelled in the 56th minute as Tammy Abraham - introduced at half-time - fired home Wilfried Bony’s parried effort.

But despite a good spell of pressure from the Swans, a late winner from Brazilian Richarlison saw the visitors claim all three points.

“It is a disappointing result,” said Abraham. “We knew at half-time it was not good enough. The gaffer made changes and we came alive in the second half.

“We did well to get back into the game and levelled things up, but we conceded in the last minute which was a big downer for us.

“We felt we could go on and win the game when we equalised. We went all out to win but lost the ball on the counter attack.

“We know we are better than what we are showing and we need to pick ourselves up.

“We have more games to put things right. Now we have to go to West Ham and fight for the win.”
