Swansea City Women’s defender Alicia Powe says there is no shortage of confidence and excitement in the squad as they get set to host Wrexham Women this evening (5.10pm).

The Genero Adran Premier fixture sees the Swans play at the Swansea.com Stadium for the first time this season, having been unbeaten in their two games there last term.

Powe is delighted to be returning to the stadium, and says he and her teammates are eager to put in a performance against the second-placed visitors, having been frustrated to drop points to them in a 3-3 draw on the opening weekend of the season.

“The squad is in really good confidence, and we are just excited to get going,” said Powe

“I think our preparations have gone well and we are ready to go on Sunday.

“The atmosphere at the stadium is incredible, obviously as a female footballer you dream of playing in a stadium like the Swansea.com Stadium, so it’s brilliant to go back.

“When we went to Wrexham away, they had a good crowd there and it does make a difference. Having everyone cheering for you and building the atmosphere, it does boost your confidence.

“There were a lot of positives and obviously negatives from our last game against Wrexham.

“Those negatives are something we’ve been working on, and we really want to go and right our wrongs, and hopefully get the win on Sunday.”
