Amat: The meals are on Michu

11th October

Jordi Amat has revealed Swans star Michu will be buying his team-mates' dinner following his call-up by Spain.
The 27-year-old was on the team bus returning home from Southampton when he was made aware of his inclusion in the world champion's squad for their World Cup qualifiers with Belarus in Majorca tonight (Friday) and Georgia in Albacete three days later.
And with the Spanish tradition of buying your friends dinner following a good bout of news, Michu will be digging deep to ensure his team-mates have a hearty meal.
"Michu is amazing - he really deserves the call up," said Amat.
"We heard about Michu's call-up on the bus home and we told him 'you owe us dinner' - so he will have to pay."
Amat was on international duty himself on Thursday night as he played the full 90 minutes in Spain Under-21s' 3-2 win over Bosnia Herzegovina in Murcia.
Spain have a perfect record of three wins from three in their group as they remain on target to qualify for the Uefa U21s Championship in the Czech Republic in 2015.
And centre-back Amat feels his development has stepped up a notch following his move to the Swans from Espanyol.
"The level in the Premier League is very high," said Amat, who has featured eight times this season.
"I have already faced teams like Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool. I am improving every day. I am improving with the language too."
While Amat has been getting to grips quickly with the language, he admits he has had some problems with the local lingo.
"Understanding Welsh is impossible!" joked Amat. "It sounds like a language from another planet."
