Amat targeting another home win

16th October

Jordi Amat is hoping to take his international form into the Barclays Premier League this Saturday as the Swans target a first home win of the campaign.
While domestic fixtures were on hold, Amat was busy on the national stage as he featured in both of Spain's Under-21 matches.
He played every minute as the U21s beat Bosnia-Herzegovina (3-2) and Hungary (1-0) on home soil to ensure they stayed top of their group with a perfect return from four games.
Those victories ensure Spain - winners of the Uefa European U21 Championship for the past two tournaments - remain on course to qualify for the competition being held in the Czech Republic in 2015.
And following his recent successes, Amat hopes to clock up another win on home soil when the Swans return to Premier League action against a Sunderland side looking to get off to the perfect start under new manager Gus Poyet.
The Swans are yet to win at home in the league so far, but with three of the next four league fixtures at the Liberty, Amat feels it is a good opportunity to change their fortunes in SA1.
"I had some good results with Spain U21s and it has given us a great position in the group," said the centre-back, who was part of the squad that won the 2013 tournament. "The senior team qualified for Brazil 2014 on Tuesday night too, so it was a very successful few days.
"We had two home games back-to-back with the U21s, and we made the most of them.
"Looking at the fixtures we have here at Swansea, we have a few home games coming up in succession starting with Sunderland on Saturday.
"Obviously, Sunderland have a new manager and they will be looking to impress him along with getting three points, but for us it's important that we get our first win at home in the league.
"These are the games we need to win, and we really want to win it for the fans because they give us unbelievable support.
"It will be nice to repay them with three points on Saturday."
This weekend, Amat will be looking to make his ninth appearance for the Swans following his £2.5million summer move from Espanyol.
The 21-year-old started in the 2-0 defeat at Southampton before the international break, and he is raring to go ahead of the Black Cats' visit to South West Wales.
"The Premier League is a competition I really enjoy," said Amat. "There are a lot of different styles with different types of opponents, and that is something that tests you.
"It has been the same at international level for me, but all these types of tests make you a stronger player.
"Hopefully I will feature in the manager's plans this weekend and cap off what has been a really successful week for myself."
