Andre Ayew named Barclays Premier League August Player of the Month

11th September

Andre Ayew completed a dream start to life in the Barclays Premier League after being named August's Player of the Month.
The Ghanaian winger, who arrived at the Liberty on a free transfer from Marseille this summer, scored three goals in his opening four games as the Swans made a superb start to the campaign.
Ayew beat off competition from fellow team-mate Bafe Gomis along with David Silva, Aleksandar Kolarov (both Manchester City), Chris Smalling (Manchester United) and Riyad Mahrez (Leicester City) to win the first accolade of the season.
The 25-year-old becomes the first Swans player since Gylfi Sigurdsson to win the award, with the Icelandic midfielder picking up the accolade in March 2012 during his loan spell at the Liberty.
Meanwhile, Garry Monk missed out on the Manager of the Month award despite leading his side to an unbeaten start to the season. Manchester City's Manuel Pellegrini took the award after his team won all four matches.
Everyone at Swansea City would like to congratulate Andre on winning his award.
