Andy Fisher extends Swansea City stay until 2028
Swansea City goalkeeper Andy Fisher has signed a new contract to keep him at the club until the summer of 2028.
The 28-year-old had been due to be out of contract at the end of the current season, but has committed his future to the Swans.
Fisher has made 54 appearances for the Swans since joining from MK Dons in January 2022, with five of those coming this season including all four games as the club reached the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.
The Blackburn Rovers academy product signed a first professional deal at Ewood Park in 2016, and went on to make four first-team appearances in the EFL Trophy and the League Cup.
Fisher had loan spells with FC United of Manchester and Northampton Town in 2019, but it was a loan move to MK Dons that really kick-started his senior career.
While Fisher did not feature over the course of that temporary stint, he caught the eye of former Swans boss Russell Martin and was signed on a permanent deal in the summer of 2020.
He made 39 appearances in total the following season, and backed that up with 23 during the 2021-22 campaign before moving to south Wales.
"We’re delighted for Andy and his family that he has committed the next two-and-a-half years to the club, he’s been brilliant in his role since I’ve come back to club," added goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson.
"He's been a huge support in Lawrence’s journey and Andy’s own journey is far from over, he still has a lot of football ahead of him, and I’m delighted for him and the club that the next chapter is with Swansea City."
