Angel: Let's seize opportunity to impress
Angel Rangel is hoping the Swans can seize their "perfect opportunity" to impress when they host Manchester City at the Liberty tonight (7.45pm).
The Swans welcome Pep Guardiola's men to SA1 aiming to book their place in the fourth round of the EFL Cup and make an immediate response following their defeat at Southampton on Sunday.
The Citizens are the in-form team in European football, however, and have recorded eight wins out of eight in all competitions under new boss Guardiola.
But Rangel believes the challenge that the Swans face presents an ideal opportunity to impress in front of Swansea's home support.
"Playing against Manchester City at home is the perfect opportunity to show that you want to be in the first-team week-in, week-out," said Rangel, who made his 150th Premier League appearance last weekend.
"This is a different competition and a chance for players who haven't had so much game time in the league to impress the manager.
"It will be one of the toughest games of the season for us against one of the best teams in the world at the moment - because they're on fire - but we know that if you want to go far in this competition, you have to beat the best teams.
"We need to have the ball as much as possible to create chances, which is something we have found difficult lately. And when we get our chances, we need to make sure we take them."
Rangel has experienced many a special occasion under the lights in SA1, not to mention prior success in the competition in 2013 when the Swans lifted the trophy at Wembley.
And the 33-year-old is hoping for another memorable occasion this evening.
"I'm sure the atmosphere will be fantastic," said the Spanish right-back. "We will need to use the Liberty to pick up a result.
"We've had success in this competition in the past, so hopefully it will be another good night for us."
