Angel looks ahead to Chelsea test

Angel Rangel insists the Swans are in for a tough test when they face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge next weekend.

The Swans were held to a goalless draw against Southampton at the Liberty on Saturday to extend their run of just one win in six games.

That victory came against Newcastle at the beginning of March, but Michael Laudrup's side have remained in the top half of the table despite their recent dip.

And with games against Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United to come, the squad will be hoping to get some points on the board in the quest to cement a place in the top ten of the Premier League.

And Rangel is fully aware of the task that faces them at Stamford Bridge next Sunday as they take on a Chelsea side looking to finish in the top four and gain revenge for the Capital One Cup semi-final defeat back in January.

"It's going to be a difficult game," said Angel. "I think it would have been important to beat Southampton, particularly at home, because we now have two tough games against Chelsea and Manchester City.

"We wanted to get something from the game, but we'll try our best. We know how to beat big teams - we have done it already this season - but at this stage it isn't just about performances, we want results as well."

"They (Chelsea) are still fighting for the top four, as well as doing well in the Europa League. We know it will be a very difficult game, but we have beaten them before."

The Swans started brightly against Southampton on Saturday, but neither side managed to get into their stride on an uninspiring afternoon.

Both Michel Vorm and Artur Boruc pulled off smart saves at either end as the two sides settled for a share of the spoils.

And with five games left to play, Rangel believes that the Swans can still reach the 50-point target that has been set by boss Michael Laudrup.

"I think it was a fair result against Southampton," he said. "I think we edged it in terms of chances, and we did well in the early stages.

"But we didn't get that first goal that gives you the relaxation to play the rest of the game. However, it is another point and we'll see what happens in the next five games."

He added: "We can still reach 50 points. We have three very tough games, but we also play Wigan and Fulham as well which will be important matches for us.

"But we'll go game by game and I think 50 points is still within our reach."
