Angel's delight with top tactics

13th January

Angel Rangel hailed Michael Laudrup's tactical decisions as the Swans showed their grit and determination in front of Spain boss Vincente del Bosque.
Laudrup's side picked up another priceless point after a fine defensive display secured a 0-0 draw with Everton at Goodison Park.
It proved the first time David Moyes's team had failed to score on home soil this season, with the Swans now boasting the joint-best defensive record along with Arsenal on their travels.
For the test at Goodison Park, Rangel was deployed as a right-winger from the start with Dwight Tiendalli behind him.
It was a ploy that worked wonders for the Swans, with the pair nullifying the threat of Leighton Baines and Steven Pienaar.
"We had lost three times to them in the league, so we came here with a game plan," said Rangel.
"I played with Dwight on the right, and we are both full-backs but we could top them playing down that side and prevent Baines and Pienaar from cross to Jelavic, Fallaini and Anichebe.
"You have to adapt and help the team. My role was to defend and it was always going to be difficult because Baines is like an extra winger.
"I thought overall we played very well as a team and deserved the point."
While it was not a classical free-flowing Swans performance, Rangel feels Spain boss del Bosque would have been impressed by the other side shown by Laudrup's team.
Rangel, Chico Flores, Pablo Hernandez and Michu were all being monitored by the manager of the current European and World Champions ahead of squad selection for next month's friendly with Uruguay in Qatar.
"From the Spanish point of view it probably wasn't an ideal game to watch because it is very difficult to play against Everton, particularly at Goodison Park," added Rangel.
"Not a great deal happened for him to see, but from a Swansea point of view it was very satisfying.
"Hopefully he will come to the Liberty to watch some games, and possibly at the Emirates (against Arsenal) on Wednesday.
"What he would have seen at Everton was that we are not just a possession team - we are a team that can defend, keep clean sheets and get points.
"We have extra strength, experience and more character around the pitch.
"We are not conceding too many goals, and overall we are really balanced as a team."
