Coach Anthony Wright was proud of how Swansea City Under-21s shook off the difficulties of having numerous players away on international duty to secure a thumping 4-1 victory at Hull City.

The Swans had trailed to an early Joe Ocaya strike at North Ferriby, but responded in terrific fashion as a Josh Pescatore brace and further goals from Morgan Bates and Bobo Evans secured victory and further bolstered their Professional Development League play-off aspirations.

International call-ups had left the Swans with a small group of players to work with in preparation to face the Tigers, and Wright was pleased to see with the way the squad dealt with the challenges.

"I was really pleased with the group. I have said how this team keeps impressing me and they are showing resilience week in and week out, and really developing," he said.

"We did not have an ideal preparation. It's an international break so we were missing a number of players, and a few have been working with the first-team too.

"We ended up with just 15 players available across the under-21 and under-18 age groups, we have had lads playing out of position and having to step up, but there were no excuses, that's the culture we have built and the players showed that in their performance.

"We started slowly, Hull were on the front foot early on, and we did not deal with the conditions particularly well. In a way, the goal gave us a bit of a wake-up call and from that point we were excellent.

"We dominated the ball, took control of the game and we got our rewards with. Josh Pescatore was outstanding again, he is in really impressive form.

"At half-time we challenged the players to get the next goal, and we got a great response and put ourselves in a strong position, and it was great to see Bobo get his first under-21 goal to seal the win.

"To get that result against a strong Hull City side, with everything going on in terms of availability, says a lot about this group."
