Anthony Wright proud of mature team performance from young under-21s
Anthony Wright praised the maturity of a young Swansea City Under-21s side after they secured a deserved 3-1 win against Queens Park Rangers in the Professional Development League.
A second-half hat-trick from Morgan Bates ensured the Swans claimed back-to-back wins following their south Wales derby victory at Cardiff last Friday.
Over recent weeks, the development squad has featured players from the club's under-15 squad, as well as first-year scholars playing week in and week out; and Wright is more than pleased with how those players have handled the step up physically.
"I'm over the moon with the players. Performance-wise, the game had some real good moments. There were dips in tempo at times but then we picked it straight back up," said Wright.
"But for us at the moment we're so pleased, especially with this group, because we're stretching them so much in terms of what we're asking from them.
"Every week, our schedules are changing to help the under-18s and vice versa, and the boys just adapt and then go on to put good performances in and win games, it's quite demanding.
"I could not be anymore pleased for the under-21 players, they have so many younger players around them at the moment, but they conduct themselves brilliantly.
"We put such a young group out with our substitutes when our game was in the balance, and that is a testament to their hard work and their maturity.
"It was a real rewarding night for us and the players, it shows we're in a really good place."
