Anthony Wright | There were many positives to take from the performance
Coach Anthony Wright was pleased with Swansea City Under-21s' performance against a strong Brentford side, despite suffering defeat at the Joma High Performance Centre.
A brace from Bees midfielder Luka Bentt and a goal from Chanse Headman condemned the Swans to a 3-0 loss, who also lost Sebastian Dabrowski to a red card in the second-half.
It's the Swans' second consecutive defeat have suffered a narrow 1-0 loss against Nottingham Forest last time out, but their first on home turf this season.
"Up until the sending off, I thought we dominated the game. I'm really pleased with the players against an experienced and older Brentford B team," said Wright.
"I thought our players matched them. During that time, we could have scored a couple of goals and we then paid the price for that later on in the game.
"From an individual point of view, I thought we were aggressive all over the pitch, we won our duels and, on the ball, I thought we were terrific.
"There's a lot of positives. But the last 20 minutes is where we dropped. Their first goal was a good finish, and then the sending off took the game away from us a little bit.
"These games are high tempo, you've got to think quicker, react quicker, which I think we did all over the pitch apart from taking our opportunities in their box.
"I genuinely believe we could have been three goals up at half-time, which would have been deserved from our first-half performance."
Swansea City Under-21s are next in action on Sunday, December 7 as they welcome Nottingham Forest to the Joma High Performance Centre in the Premier League Cup (12pm), and entry is free.
