Award for Swans' service to fans

13th October

Swansea City has received a prestigious customer care award from VisitFootball for providing the best service to Premier League fans.
A panel of industry experts from tourism and football voted Swansea City as the Best Fan Innovation award for their away supporter video orientation guide.
VisitFootball, a joint venture between the Premier League and the national tourism board VisitEngland, has been assessing the care that supporters receive at football grounds since August 2010 and gives out annual awards for those who deliver outstanding service.
All 20 clubs in the Premier League were judged by a professional tourism assessor across eight areas of the matchday experience, such as ticketing, stewarding, catering, toilets and the club shop.
All elements of the supporter journey, including the range of pre-match information provided by clubs for fans, is where the Swans excelled by providing essential, useful, accurate and up-to-date information that can answer questions and help supporters to plan for matchdays.
The information guide also provides an opportunity to market a club to new supporters, and to build the sense of anticipation ahead of a visit.
Commenting on the club's award, VisitFootball said: "Swansea City has risen to the challenge of packaging and providing information in an engaging way by producing two innovative Visitor Guides for home and away supporters.
"The Visitor Guides combine a range of video, info-graphics and voiceovers that bring the Liberty Stadium experience to life and add a flavour of the local area and its people.
"They are an excellent example of a modern multimedia approach that elevates basic subject matter, such as parking or turnstile locations, and uses it as a means not only of answering questions but of showcasing the club and its offer for fans.''
Liverpool won the VisitFootball Club of the Year and Warmest Welcome awards for their stand-out supporter experience, while AFC Bournemouth achieved the Extra Mile award for improving the experience for away fans at the Vitality Stadium, focusing on enhancing their concourse areas. The Unsung Hero award went to Watford's Harry the Hornet for an outstanding contribution to the matchday experience.
