Swansea City’s Ben Cabango has been called up to the Wales senior squad for the first time ahead of their upcoming Nations League games against Finland and Bulgaria, with Connor Roberts also selected.

The centre-half, 20, is included in Ryan Giggs’ 26-man party following an impressive breakthrough season with the Swans.

Cabango, who was also capped at under-17, under-19 and under-21 levels, made 26 appearances under Steve Cooper in all competitions during the 2019-20 campaign, scoring his first senior goal in the 3-1 win at Birmingham.

He also became the first player born in the 21st century to represent the Swans in a league game when he made his Championship bow in the draw at Huddersfield last November.

Cabango, who has been with the club since he was 14, saw his efforts rewarded in March with a fresh contract extension that will keep him in SA1 until the summer of 2023.

Connor Roberts

Roberts is also part of the Dragons squad, who launch their Nations League campaign away in Finland on September 3, before hosting Bulgaria in Cardiff three days later.

The full-back, who will be looking to add to his 16 international caps, recently made his 100th appearance for the Swans in the dramatic victory at Reading last month.

The Swans are also represented in the Wales Under-21 squad for their European qualifier against Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Jack Evans, Brandon Cooper, Joe Lewis, Oli Cooper and Liam Cullen have all been handed call-ups.
