Ben Wilmot's winner rocks the Liberty

If you wanted to know just what a South Wales derby win meant to Swansea City, the deafening reaction to Ben Wilmot’s winner told you everything.

The defender timed his run perfectly to glance home Wayne Routledge’s header and send the Liberty Stadium into delirious celebration.

And figures provided by a device measuring the seismic impact of the celebration at the stadium revealed it caused a shock three times greater than any other goal scored by the Swans on home turf this season.

Vibrations from the goal celebrations were being picked up on a seismometer in place at the Liberty Stadium as part of a Sky Bet study, which evaluates the pulse felt through the ground.

Mike van der Hoorn’s winner against Hull on the opening day of the season had prompted a micro earthquake in SA1, but that was nothing compared to the reaction to Wilmot’s header, as the graphs and charts below illustrate.
