Swans Ladies midfielder Emma Beynon has been called up to represent Wales Women for their friendly matches in Portugal.

The call-up follows Beynon’s debut for the senior side during the recent Cyprus Cup, where the 21-year-old earned her first cap in a 0-0 draw against Scotland.

Jayne Ludlow’s national side will now face Portugal in a double header of friendlies this week in preparation for their upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifying campaign.

Thursday will see Wales take on Portugal at Stadium João Cardoso in Tondela before they line up against the Uuefa Women's Euro 2017 finalists again on Sunday at Stadium Fontelo in Viseu.

Last month, Wales were drawn in the same Fifa World Cup Qualifying Group as England, Russia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Kazakhstan.

The news comes after an incredibly successful season for Beynon who not only earned her first senior Wales cap, but also saw her win the

Outstanding Achievement of the Season Award at Swans Ladies’ annual awards ceremony.

At club level, Beynon also helped Swans Ladies secure the Welsh Premier Women’s League title and qualify for the Champions League next season.
