BLAST FROM THE PAST: Stoke v Swans

17th October

Stoke City 1 Swansea City 2 - Britannia Stadium - March 7, 2001
Swansea ended a run of five successive defeats with a shock victory at Stoke - which virtually closed the door on the Potters' chances of automatic promotion.
The expectant home crowd was silenced as the visitors took a deserved two-goal lead inside half an hour.
Jason Price capitalised on a mistake by Wayne Thomas to fire Swansea ahead - then Kristian O'Leary bagged the second when he picked his spot from 18 yards following a Nicolas Fabiano corner.
Stoke huffed and puffed after the break but it was nine minutes from time before they could pull a goal back through James O'Connor, but the brave Swans held on.
