Bobby Wales was pleased to have netted his first goal in a Swansea City shirt, and believes Alan Sheehan's squad will be all the better for their week-long training camp in Spain.

The teenage striker - who has joined the Swans from Kilmarnock - featured in the first of two hour-long games against Stevenage at the Pinatar Arena on Saturday, which brought the curtain down on a week of intense training in sweltering temperatures in the Murcia region.

And he got on the scoresheet as he converted a Josh Tymon cross from close range in a 2-2 draw, before the Welsh club won the second contest thanks to a Zan Vipotnik strike.

Scotland age-grade international Wales knows a lot of hard work still lies ahead - individually and collectively - but he felt there was plenty for the Swans to take forward as they build towards that Championship opener against Middlesbrough.

"I am pleased, of course to score, that's what you what you want to do as a striker," he said.

"I am trying to do the best I can, I am a young player, I am looking to learn and improve and scoring always helps with that. Our fans made a lot of noise too, which was great and we thank them for that.

"The main thing was that everyone did well and I thought you could see some good signs, but we know there is plenty of hard work ahead.

"It was very tough, the heat was very intense so it was a very good test for all of us.

"We have put in a lot of hard work this week, and these games were a good test of us and the way we want to play with how the conditions were.

"I think we will take a lot from this, we've come away to different surroundings and spent a lot of time in each other's company. It benefits everyone on and off the field."
