Bony praises team-mates after cup win

5th January

Wilfried Bony hailed the attitude of his team-mates following Sunday's FA Cup third round win against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Swans recorded their maiden victory at United as they dumped David Moyes' side out of the competition.

Wayne Routledge put the visitors ahead early on with a wonderful lobbed finish, but Javier Hernandez equalised four minutes later for the hosts.

United were reduced to ten men late on when substitute Fabio was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Jose Canas, before Wilfried Bony struck in the 90th minute to send Swansea into the fourth round.

And the Ivory Coast international was full of praise for his team-mates for the way they took the game to their opponents.

"It was a dream finish," said Bony. "I've scored quite a few times late on and it is important to keep your concentration until the very end.

"You never know when the chances might come, but when they do you need to score.

"As a striker it's always good to score, but the most important thing was for us to stay focussed and try to push on and get a chance.

"But to score in the last minute was fantastic."

Sunday's victory at Old Trafford was only Swansea's second in eleven games in all competitions.

Michael Laudrup's side face Manchester United at Old Trafford again next Saturday when they return to Premier League action.

And Bony insists the cup win over the Red Devils will give the Swans plenty of confidence ahead of next weekend.

"This will give us a lot of confidence," he said. "We have to play them again and that will be a very different game than this one, but we have to be ready again.

"We will come here again looking to try and win."
