Champion boxer Enzo Maccarinelli joins celebs match

1st May

Commonwealth light heavyweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli has joined the fight for SwansAid and will play in this May's Celebrity football match.
The Swansea boxer, who has 31 knockouts from 39 wins, says he hopes to earn another victory at Liberty Stadium this summer.
The 34-year-old former WBO cruiserweight champion, is a big Swans fan and he can't wait to run out at the Liberty.
"I am really excited and looking forward to being involved with the SwansAid Celebs Soccer match," he said.
"I know last season's game helped raise thousands for charity and we will be looking to do the same again this year. SwansAid is a fantastic cause to be involved with.
Enzo found fame in the boxing ring after swapping his boots for gloves, but believes he is quite handy on the pitch after returning to Sunday League football in 2011.
He added: "I played as a youngster and I started to play football again a few years back after winning my European Cruiserweight title.
"I play up front, so hopefully if I am on Lee Trundle's team we can do some damage up front and I can bag a few goals.
"I feel my fitness levels are superb but I admit, even though I train seven days a week to do what I do in the boxing ring, playing football at the Liberty will be a whole new experience and will take me out of my comfort zone.
"I'm looking forward to the experience of playing alongside the likes of Trunds, Adam (Woodyatt) and Jake (Quickenden)."
Enzo will be joining stars from TV, sport and music on the pitch including, former Team GB Olympic sprinter Jamie Baulch with Eastenders star Jake Wood and X-Factor winner Shayne Ward.
Last year's match attracted over 10,500 fans helping raise more than £55,000 for SwansAid, which is spread throughout local charities.
