Swansea City Women’s interim head coach Chris Church has left the club following the conclusion of the 2023-24 season.

Church became interim boss in October 2023, returning for a second spell in charge of the senior side and steering them to the Adran Trophy final, as well as a second-place finish in the Genero Adran Premier.

Church first joined the club in 2013 as reserve team manager, before roles as assistant manager and becoming head coach in 2021, guiding the Swans to the 2021-22 Welsh top-flight title.

Church also held the position of under-19s’ coach during a distinguished 11-year spell with Swansea City.

“I would like to thank Chris for his years of service to the women's game at Swansea City,” said Alice Weekes, Swansea City’s head of women’s football.

“Chris has managed the team through a period of major transition, following the introduction of semi-professional contracts for the women's first team last summer.

“We thank him for the hard work and dedication he has shown in his role as interim head coach, and throughout his entire time at the football club.

“I would like to take this opportunity to wish Chris all the best for the future.”

Chris Church added: "I’ve had an incredible journey with Swansea City.

"It’s been fantastic to see the women’s game make such strides in Swansea and Wales.

"The team here has gone semi-professional, which is a big change from the days of training and playing out of Baglan, and to have been part of that change fills me with great pride.

"I’ve experienced many highs, from being in charge of the clubs first-ever reserve team when I first joined, to winning the league and cups, and experiencing the Uefa Women's Champions League. It’s been a rollercoaster of a ride to say the least.

"I want to thank everyone of the players and staff that I’ve been so lucky to work with along the way. But I also want to thank my wife for all the years of support and sacrifices she has given me to allow me to coach the team, she has been incredible."
