City Business Network event proves big success
City Business Network members were treated to an exclusive event with Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper, chairman Trevor Birch and sporting director Leon Britton.
Hosted at the Liberty Stadium with sponsor Vodafone Business, the trio gave the members in attendance an insight into the day-to-day running of the club and its focus on the community.
The City Business Network launched in March 2018 with the aim of bringing local businesses together around events throughout the season unique to the South Wales area.
“Connecting the club to the local community and fans is key. We have seen a great turn out from club partners and local businesses of all shapes and sizes,” said chairman Birch.
“I have been very impressed with the interest and uptake of the reformed business network, it shows you what the club means to the community and local businesses.
“It is great to be able to play our part and provide them with a forum to network and develop relationships, which we should do as a community club."
The event was opened by Cooper and Britton, who gave members insight into the season so far and how they have adapted to their new roles.
“Having Steve and Leon talking at the event was important to show that we are all connected and we are all in it together. Steve realises how important the club is to the community and was keen to play his part. It was great to see both Steve and Leon at the event.” added Birch.
Run in conjunction with Vodafone Business, the event also saw Alan Milburn, Regional Client Director for Vodafone UK, speaking about the development of 5G in the local area.
“Our reason for working with Swansea is we have a Welsh team, and it helps us to bring that Welsh team to a natural hub where we could interact with the wider community and businesses within the Swansea region,” said Milburn.
“The synergy around the football club is about how they use technology today and their aspiration to be relevant to the local community.”
The next City Business Network event is to be held on December 5 at the Liberty Stadium.
