Paul Clement is hoping to land two more signings before the transfer window closes as he bids to build a squad which can compete in the Premier League.

The Swansea City boss has expressed his delight after sealing a deal for Hull City midfielder Sam Clucas this week.

But Clement, whose team go to Crystal Palace on Saturday, admits there is still plenty of work to do before next Thursday’s transfer deadline.

“I would like if possible to bring in another two players before the window closes,” he said.

“I don’t want to say anything about any individual players, but in the past I have said that the forward positions are important for us and that’s really where our focus is.

“My wish is to try to get two players from the things we are talking about. If we do that, I will be happy with my squad.”

Clement does not anticipate any more business being done before this weekend’s trip to Palace.

And he accepts that the Swans may have to do at least one last-minute deal.

“Of course we would like to get everything done quickly, but it’s not always possible,” he added.

“We have to be prepared to go right to the wire to make sure we are getting the right player for the right value.

“Possibly it will go late with one of the players. We will have to see, but I think one of the things we are trying to do will be later rather than sooner.”

The versatile Clucas has signed a four-year deal at the Liberty and will go straight into the squad for the Palace clash.

“Sam is fit and is in good shape,” Clement said.

“He doesn’t need any extra physical work. It’s just about whether I see it as right for him to go straight into the team for tactical reasons.

“He is a really good footballer and is someone who will bring a lot of value to us. We are glad to have him.”
