Connor Roberts is relishing the attacking opportunities offered by playing at wing-back after continuing his impressive start to the season with a goal in Swansea City’s win over Luton.

Roberts now has two goals and three assists to his name after he was on hand to fire home Andre Ayew’s lay-off, with the aid of a deflection against the Hatters.

The goal set the Swans on the way to a 2-0 win – which Ayew sealed late on – and saw them climb back into the play-off spots following the midweek defeat at Middlesbrough.

Roberts was also rock-solid defensively, and the Wales international and fellow wing-back Jake Bidwell have been prominent figures in Swansea’s fine form since the resumption of football in June.

And the 25-year-old hopes there is plenty more to come.

“Obviously, it was a good, positive result. It was nice to get a goal and keep up my decent form, but the result is the most important thing. Luckily, we got that.

“When I'm playing as a wing-back, I like to try and join in the attacks and contribute to the goals.

“I started the season with a couple of assists and I now have a couple of goals so, hopefully, that can continue for as long as possible.

“But it’s the team that matters most. It's always going to be hard in this league, so we're delighted to get the win and the clean sheet as well.”
