Connor Roberts believes the Swans are going places under Graham Potter - and has hailed his manager for giving youth a chance to shine.

The Swans sit just two points outside of the play-offs after 17 Championship games under Potter, who took over at the Liberty this summer following a successful time managing Ostersund in Sweden.

After relegation from the Premier League last season, the Swans have settled comfortably into life in the Championship.

The likes of academy graduates Roberts, Joe Rodon, Oli McBurnie and Daniel James have become first-team regulars under Potter, with the quartet repaying the Swans boss with consistent performances.

And Roberts, who today signed a new contract at the Liberty until 2022, believes Potter deserves a lot of praise for giving the youngsters an opportunity to shine.

“Graham Potter has been brilliant since he’s come in,” said the 23-year-old, who made his Swans debut last January following a loan spell at Middlesbrough.

“He’s a young manager with lots of great ideas who trusts not only me but the other young players in the squad.

“I need to keep proving to him that I’m good enough because I know there are players out there who are itching to play instead of me.

“We have got a lot of young players like me who are hungry to succeed for the team and on a personal level.

“If we keep listening to the manager and the staff then who knows what we can achieve because he’s been excellent.”
