Cork: Forthcoming fixtures will define season

4th December

Captain Jack Cork insists the Swans' forthcoming fixtures will define their season - starting with next weekend's crucial home clash with Sunderland.

The Swans slipped to the bottom of the Premier League table following a disappointing 5-0 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

Bob Bradley's side now face teams in and around them in the table, with Sunderland visiting the Liberty next Saturday.

A trip to West Brom follows along with a visit to Middlesbrough, while home matches against West Ham and Bournemouth conclude the month.

And Cork believes it is a critical time in the Swans' season.

"For the rest of this month we are playing teams in a similar position to us, so they are games that will define our season," said the midfielder.

"We have to make sure we get the results we need in those games.

"We can't let this result get us down because it's a massive period ahead."

The Swans were well beaten at White Hart Lane, with Harry Kane's penalty and Heung-Min Son's volley giving Tottenham a 2-0 lead at the break.

Kane added another after the restart before a Christian Eriksen brace completed a miserable day for the visitors.

"We were doing okay until the penalty, which changed the game. After that, we were second best to everything," added Cork.

"That reflected in the scoreline. It was an unacceptable performance.

"We are really disappointed especially for the fans who came to support us. It was not the performance or result we wanted to give our supporters."
