Davies' delight with first goal

20th January

Ben Davies revealed his delight after his first senior goal set the Swans on their way to a comfortable win over Stoke.
The young full-back opened the scoring shortly after half-time, beating Ryan Shawcross and Jonathan Walters before firing a low shot past Asmir Begovic.
That goal broke the visitors' resistance, and the home side went on to seal all three points with a brace from Jonathan de Guzman - the second of which capped a fine passing move.
But the spotlight was on Davies after the final whistle, and the 19-year-old was understandably delighted to net his first Premier League goal for the club.
"It was a great feeling," he said. "Once I got in that position I wanted to make sure my shot was on target and to see it go in was an unbelievable moment.
"At half-time, Erik Larsen told me to make that run inside and said that if I kept doing that, I'll get in a good position.
"In fairness, he was spot and he was the first one to tell me that after the game!"
It has been a remarkable season for Davies, with the defender playing an integral part in the Swans' rise into the top half of the league table.
He has also earned international recognition with Wales, but his first senior goal was always going to be something special.
And his fellow team-mates recognised his feat as all the outfield players ran straight to Davies to celebrate his milestone.
"It was just raw emotion really," he said. "I didn't have a celebration planned because I never thought I'd score to be honest.
"All the boys congratulated me after the game and I think they were all pleased to see me get a goal.
"It's a great feeling to hear the crowd sing your name and it hasn't really sunk in yet."
Saturday's goal capped a fine week for the youngster, as he invested in a new car to celebrate his rapid rise into the Swans first team.
The defender, dubbed the only top-flight footballer with wind-down windows, failed to make it into training this week following the heavy snow.
But Davies said with a smile: "I thought I deserved to treat myself a little bit. So I got myself a new car and I'm happy with it.
"I think I better stop turning up for training on a Friday if I'm scoring on a Saturday!"
