Davies hails squad's character

Ben Davies hailed the character within the squad after the Swans booked their place in the Capital One Cup final with victory over Chelsea.

Michael Laudrup's side produced another fine performance to hold the European champions to a 0-0 draw on Wednesday, going through 2-0 on aggregate following their win at Stamford Bridge a fortnight ago.

In front of a sell-out crowd at the Liberty, the Jack Army were vocal throughout and roared the players on to a first major cup final in the club's 100-year history.

The Swans will now face League Two side Bradford at Wembley on Sunday, February 24.

"It was a massive night for the club," said Davies. "We put in a great performance and showed the other side of our game, where we had to dig deep and get the result we needed - that shows we are a good team.

"We probably could have got a goal ourselves, but overall I think we deserve to go through over the two legs.

"We showed the determination not to concede, but also the quality in front of goal when it mattered.

"We've got plenty of leaders within the team and tonight we showed the great character we have to come through the game."

For Davies, reaching Wembley is the icing on the cake for what has been a dream season for the young defender.

The 19-year-old has made his Premier League and international debut, scored his first senior goal and will now prepare to represent his hometown club in a cup final at Wembley.

The last time the Swans played at the home of English football - in the 2011 Championship play-off final - Davies was a fan, hoping to see his beloved team reach the Premier League.

But now he'll get the chance to walk out onto the famous hallowed turf under the arch.

"We are over the moon and I think it will be a great day for everyone involved with the club," he said.

"It's going to be a phenomenal atmosphere and something I'm really looking forward to - I can't wait."
