ON THIS DAY: Swans stay top of the table

15th December

Swansea City 3-0 Southend
League One: Saturday, December 15, 2007
The Swans remained top of the League One table after a comfortable 3-0 win over Southend at the Liberty.
The deadlock was broken in the 18th minute after Warren Feeney headed home, while the Swans had a man advantage following Nicky Bailey's 35th minute dismissal for receiving a second booking.
That sending off came just minutes after scorer Feeney was stretchered off inured, but the hosts continued to battle on despite that setback.
It took until just before the hour mark until the Swans doubled their lead, with Angel Rangel curling into the corner of the net after being set up by Paul Anderson.
Despite seeing Andy Robinson fail to score from the penalty spot, the Swans did go on to record a third goal after Tom Butler headed a Marcos Painter into the net with seven minutes left.
