Jordi Gomez, Jason Scotland, Guiillem Bauza and Alan Tate were all on the scoresheet as the Swans convincingly beat promotion rivals Preston 4-1 at the Liberty Stadium on this day in 2009.

A 15,000 strong crowd were treated to a goal-fest on a chilly Tuesday evening, with Gomez opening the scoring inside two minutes for Roberto Martinez's men after Sean St Ledger had been dispossessed on the edge of his own box.

In-form striker Scotland doubled the lead on the half hour with his ninth goal in as many games to put the hosts firmly in control.

Bauza came off the bench in the second half to slide home a third goal for the Swans before loyal servant Tate secured a fifth-consecutive victory with a curling effort.

Preston’s Chris Brown netted a consolation goal in the dying minutes, but it wouldn’t be enough to spoil an almost perfect night for the Liberty faithful.
