de Guzman hails squad strength

Jonathan de Guzman hailed the strength in depth at the Swans after Michael Laudrup booked a Europa League Play-Off against Romanian side Petrolul Ploiesti.
A 0-0 draw in Sweden on Thursday night saw the Capital One Cup winners progress 4-0 against Malmo, and in doing so earned another two-legged tie against Petrolul with a place in the Group Stages at stake.
Laudrup made seven changes to the starting line-up for the return leg at the Swedbank Stadion, with summer signings Jose Canas, Alejandro Pozuelo and Jonathan de Guzman - back on loan at the Swans - making their first starts since joining.
And de Guzman was delighted with the role the new faces played as the Swans came through their second-leg test in Malmo.
"I don't think we played the football we usually play, but we were away and the team was strong at the back," said the Dutch international.
"It was a job well done - our aim was to make the next round and that's what we did.
"The variation of the squad means we can play a number of players in different positions.
"The manager has a lot of options in the squad and that is crucial because it is going to be a long season where everyone will play their part."
He added: "Malmo were hoping for the quick goal as they were 4-0 down. They were the team that needed an early goal but we made sure we were compact and passed the ball about.
"We did well overall. We kept them from making any real chances throughout the game and that is very pleasing.
"We now look forward to the Play-Off stage."
