Declan John is on the hunt for more minutes after making his Swansea City debut.

The Wales international, who joined the club on transfer deadline day from Rangers, made his first appearance in the Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace on Tuesday night.

John played the full 90 minutes, with the left-back among seven debutants at the Liberty in what was a promising display from Graham Potter’s youthful side.

And the 23-year-old is now hoping to pick up more minutes as he looks to become a firm part of Potter’s plans.

“It was great to make my debut for the Swans, and it was good to get a full 90 minutes under my belt,” said John, whose last competitive appearance came for Wales in May.

“It was my first match in three months so it was nice to get back out on the pitch.

“Playing at home in front of the Swans fans was a big honour for me, and I really enjoyed the experience.

“I’m hoping for more minutes as the season progresses. It was good to play the full 90 minutes in my first appearance in a Swans shirt so hopefully I can carry that into the season and have a regular role in the manager’s plans.”
