Double injury boost for Swans
Swansea City have received fitness boosts concerning Joel Asoro and Kyle Naughton – but boss Graham Potter has gone down with a sickness bug.
The Swans were fretting over Asoro after he was helped off the field during Tuesday’s open training session at the Liberty Stadium.
But tests showed the former Sunderland man has suffered no serious damage and he is back in training ahead of Saturday’s home Championship opener against Preston North End.
There is more good news regarding Naughton, who is also back working with the rest of the Swans squad having missed the opening-day win at Sheffield United with a groin problem.
But one man absent from training today was Potter, who is suffering with illness.
Assistant manager Billy Reid stood in for Potter at today’s pre-match press conference ahead of Preston.
“I had a little bit of a surprise this morning – I woke up to a message from Graham saying he was unwell,” Reid explained.
“There has been a bit of a sickness bug in the Potter family and it was his idea to stay away from the players, because we cannot afford to lose anyone for the weekend.”
