Doubles delight Swans, says Taylor

13th May

Neil Taylor believes the Swans have laid down the marker for next season after claiming their fifth league double of the current campaign.
Bafe Gomis' late header handed the Swans victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night, moving Garry Monk's men to within two points of sixth-placed Tottenham with two games remaining.
Their latest triumph meant the Swans emerged victorious over the Gunners on both occasions this term in the Barclays Premier League, with Gomis also heading home the winner in the previous encounter at the Liberty in November.
It also saw the Swans become only the third club in the Premier League to have claimed league doubles over Manchester United and Arsenal in the same season.
Monk's men have also had the better on both occasions over Aston Villa, Hull City and Burnley this term.
And Taylor believes these successes have provided a massive platform to work off for next season.

"It lays down a marker for the club," said the left-back. "It also puts more pressure on us next season, but we're happy with that.
"To have gone to big stadiums and get great results for the supporters who travel up and down the country is very satisfying. It's games they, like us, will remember for the rest of their lives.
"We've stayed in eighth for a long time now, but we are aware of the teams just above us.
"Now we have to prepare for Manchester City on the weekend and hopefully we can make the fans feel proud once again with another great result."
