Duo set to return for Reading clash

Leroy Fer and Connor Roberts are back in the fray for Swansea City’s New Year’s Day trip to face Reading (3pm).

The pair sat out the draw with Wigan on Saturday as manager Graham Potter opted to rest them during a hectic run of four games in 11 days.

But club captain Fer and defender Roberts are both in the frame to be involved at the Madejski Stadium as the Swans look to get 2019 off to a winning start.

However, midfielder Tom Carroll remains on the sidelines, with Martin Olsson a long-term absentee.

“I think It will be too soon for Tom, he is still recovering from his injury,” said Potter.

“But Leroy and Connor will be back in contention. They have played such a lot and had different issues.

“Leroy has had his rehabilitation from injury and Connor has had so much football, we felt this was a good time to give them a breather. But they will be back.”
