Evans eyes first PL Cup win

29th November

Keiran Evans has urged Swansea City Under-23s to kickstart their Premier League Cup campaign by recording a first victory of this season’s competition against Hull City on Friday (7pm).

The young Swans welcome Hull to Landore for their third match in Group E having taken one point from their opening two games against Oxford United and Wolves.

The under-23s have reached the final of the competition in each of the last two seasons – lifting the trophy in 2017.

And Evans believes a first win in this year’s tournament will set them up nicely going into the second half of the group stage.

“It’s been a good tournament for us over the past couple of years and we want to go as far as we can again this season,” the midfielder said.

“We’ve already got a point but we could do with getting that first win on the board.

“Hopefully, we can do that and build some momentum.”

The Swans are aiming to bounce back from their agonising 3-2 defeat by Brighton in Premier League 2 on Monday.

However, Evans is full of confidence after scoring his first under-23s goal and has been pleased with his contribution to the team in recent weeks.

“Even though it didn’t mean anything in the end, I was pleased to get my goal,” he added. “It was good to get off the mark.

“I’ve had a couple of assists and a goal from my past couple of games which, on a personal level, I’m very pleased about.”
