First Family Fun Run proves a big hit

30th March

Easter Monday saw the Community Trust host their first Swans Family Fun Run with a great turnout at the Liberty.
Allowing participants to run the length of the Liberty for the first time, the event was organised to raise money to continue to fund our array of community projects.
With nearly 400 people taking part across the three distances of 1k, 5k and 10k, people of all ages and abilities put their best foot forward to help fundraise and to get their families on the road to living healthy lifestyles.
The Fun Run saw a total of 368 people descend to SA1 to run through the stadium with ages of participants raging from just two to 82.

As well as witnessing Jacks of all ages taking part, the day also welcomed Siany from The Wave, who provided entertainment throughout the day in the Runners Village, as well as a raffle with prizes including signed memorabilia while local food vendors were also present.
Additionally, the timed 10k saw a signed Swans shirt awarded to the fastest male and female to complete the course. Recording the quickest times were Gareth Poston with a time of 37 minutes 42 seconds and Helen-Marie Davies with 43m 4s.
"On behalf of the Swans Community Trust, we'd like to say a big thank you to all of the runners who came to the Liberty Stadium to take part in our first ever Swans Family Fun Run this Easter," said Community Trust Fundraising Officer Charlotte Rogers.
"It was fantastic for us to engage with so many members of the community, across all age ranges, and raise awareness of all the good work that our charity does.
"The Trust aims to improve the lifestyles of those within our community, so it was great to see so many families put aside their Easter Eggs and get active on a Bank Holiday Monday!"
