Fulton: Let's continue to be clinical

Jay Fulton has urged Swansea City to maintain their impressive recent form in front of goal when they face Preston North End at Deepdale on Saturday.

Following their 4-1 victory over Reading on New Year’s Day and 3-0 FA Cup success over Aston Villa last weekend, Graham Potter’s side are aiming to record their third consecutive win in all competitions.

The past two games have also seen the Swans possess a more clinical edge in front of goal and Fulton insists they must continue to do that in order to move up the Championship table.

“We’ve enjoyed comfortable wins in our last two games and taken our chances,” the midfielder said. “We’ve not necessarily done that before and made things harder for ourselves.

“We need to maintain those levels and, hopefully, we’ve got the confidence to carry it on and take another step forward.

“It’s just another game and a chance for us to get three points and climb the table.”

Fulton, who scored the winner when the two sides met at the Liberty in August, was also on target in last weekend’s win at Villa Park.

That took the midfielder’s goal tally for 2018-19 to four – the best in his career so far – and, having enjoyed freedom in a more attacking role this season, he is hopeful of adding to that.

“I’ve been able to get forward a bit more this season with the system that we play because I know I’ve got cover behind me,” he added.

“It’s always good to help the team out by adding more goals to my game.

“Hopefully, I can go on and get a few more now.”
