Garry Monk confident of return to winning ways

23rd October

Garry Monk is confident his side can make a return to winning ways when they host Leicester City at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday afternoon (5.30pm).

The Swans welcome the Foxes to SA1 for the first time in the Barclays Premier League, aiming to put an end to a winless spell of five games.

And after the disappointment of last weekend's controversial 2-1 defeat at Stoke, Monk insists his side have shown complete focus on Saturday's task at hand.

"We've moved on from last weekend," said the Swans boss. "We came back in Tuesday and went to work.

"It's all about Leicester, and we've focused on that all week.

"It's a big game for us. We've gone five games without a win, but we have been unlucky not to pick up more points.

"We've been playing well, but we just need to be a little bit more clinical in front of goal.

"It's in front of our fans at the Liberty, so we're focused on putting on a performance for them that will hopefully warrant us earning three points."

But Monk is well aware of the test that Leicester will pose his side on Saturday.

Upon their return to the top flight, Nigel Pearson's side have enjoyed a solid start to their 2014-15 campaign, sitting in 15th position in the table after eight games.

"They've been very good," added Monk. "They've started well and had some very good results, especially the Manchester United game [when they won 5-3].

"They have some very good players, a good way of playing and a good manager. It will be a very tough game for us.

"We will need to play well, but we are positive and focussed on getting back to winning ways. I am confident that we can do that."
