Gorre urges young Swans to bounce back

7th December

Kenji Gorre wants Swansea City’s Under-23s to come back stronger in tonight’s Premier League Cup tie against Colchester United at Landore (7pm).

The under-23s began the defence of their title with a 6-3 defeat away against Newcastle United in Group D last week.

Gorre netted his eighth goal of the season as the young Swans narrowly lost out against Charlton Athletic in the second round of the Checkatrade Trophy this week.

The winger has called on the development side to bounce back from Tuesday’s defeat.

“We are disappointed with the defeat against Charlton this week,” he said. “But there are lots of positives to take going forward.

“Tonight’s game is a good opportunity to bounce back and put it right. We won the Premier League Cup last season and want to defend that title.

“We did not make the best start last week, but there are still plenty of games in the group.

“I thrive on being the lead scorer. It is important that I keep doing what I am doing and scoring goals for the team.

“I am gaining confidence with each game I play and I feel that more goals will come. I hope that progresses to chances with the first-team this season.”

Tonight’s Premier League Cup fixture will be live streamed via www.swanseacity.com from 7pm.

Entry to watch the game is free, but there is no parking at Landore training ground.
