Grimes' delight at competitive debut

27th January

Matt Grimes was delighted to make his competitive bow in a Swansea shirt as he helped the Under-21s to victory over Queens Park Rangers.
The midfielder, who arrived from Exeter City earlier this month, played the full 90 minutes at Landore as the development squad returned to the top of the table with all three points.
A double from top scorer Kenji Gorre was enough to see off the R's, who more than played their part in an entertaining encounter.
But Grimes - playing his first game since Boxing Day - was pleased to finally pull on a Swans shirt and playing once more.

"I was really looking forward to the game and getting 90 minutes under my belt," he said.
"It's been a month since I last played and there's nothing better than playing competitive football.
"The manager told us that we needed the three points to go back to the top of the league, and we're delighted to have got the win. We like to keep the ball, press high and that's exactly how it went."
He added: "I'm really enjoying it here so far. There was a lot to take in at first with the intensity of training and the extra gym work, but my body is getting used to it and I can't wait to push on."
